Driving test will last about 45-55 minutes minimum of 2 manouvers. The examiner at test center will call your name and see both parts to your licence you will sign a declaration and you will have to read registration of a car approx 20m away. Two Tell me/Show me questions see (2pass) will be asked and then off you go following road ahead at all times unless instructed by examiner or road signs/markings.
I recommend to take me along on your test as an observer, you will need to ask examiner when you sign the form at test center and this will help your learning needs should you get any faults we can discuss and correct afterwards. Many ex-learners have said to me certain examimers and test centers are racist or very strict and they failed for petty things before coming to myself. With me, sitting in the back that will not happen and has never happened with my learners and as you can see from my record and experience of 2009 I have found all test centers and examiners to be fair, most are quiet friendly and will help you calm your test nerves. Some examiners will make short conversations if you feel comfortable talking so it doesnt have to be pin drop silence in car. Soon examiners will be asking if you want instructor or friend to go on test with you compulasary from Apr 09.

This is very good to watch just few things you cannot copy on learner test eg: straight lining roundabouts, favouring right lane when no overtake is on.. I highly recommend that you do a low tone commentary on test especially any unusual situations although its not compulsary it allows examiner to know what your thinking about.

Imagine an imaginary car behind you waiting for your signal at all times before you change directions.
Imagine the car infront saying I can stop safely but can you. Keep your minimum 2 second distance.
Keep escape routes in traffic just incase car infront rolls back or breaks down. Or maybe emergency vehicle needs to pass by.
Keep escape routes in multilane roads and take a diagonal position with traffic rather than parallel along side you. Just incase they change lanes or you need to swerve you wont hit anyone if a car pulls out of side road which you didn't notice..
Help vehicles on slip roads by changing lanes while approaching and then moving back in after e.g. motorways, dual carriageways.
Use limit point skills on Bends to judge appropriate speeds.
Remember Breaks are to slow down and Gears are to go, don't change until you are ready to accelerate.
When steering always pull the wheel down with left hand for left turn and right hand for right turn and then push up with other hand if needed. Start from the 12oclock position and use all the wheel down to 6oclock position.
On bends favour left side for right bends and center of lane for left bends.
Drive at speed limits if the road and weather conditions are safe to do so and don't force people to overtake unnecessarily or to undertake you.
All roundabouts plan to stop but look to go as soon as visibility improves.
Avoid driving along side large vehicles on roundabouts keep a diagonal position if they swerve or topple.
